MEET THE STAFF! home
In House is a company that specialises in press promotion in the UK.
We like to think that we cover the more interesting ends of the guitar-based
and dance music spectrums. We basically just promote music we really like
and are pleased to have such a strong roster that includes artists as
diverse as The Go! Team, Deerhoof, Panda Bear, Tunng, The Phantom Band,
Low, Nathan Fake, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Rodriguez, Dan Deacon
and many more.
The business started in October 2000 by David Cooper and began with the
rosters of Grand Central (Rae & Christian, Aim, Riton, Fingathing
etc.) and Twisted Nerve (Alfie, Badly Drawn Boy, Andy Votel, Dakota Oak
etc.). Two burgeoning labels based in Manchester and wanting publicity
close to them rather than in London. The regional bias continued and the
next full label roster to be taken on was in 2002 with the Deltasonic
label based in Liverpool. This included probably our biggest UK acts to
date, The Coral and The Zutons.
Nowadays we like to see ourselves as very much an international company
dealing with mainly independent artists based all over the world. Check
the roster for further details and please sign in to check out much more
about In House Press.
In terms of staff there are four of us:

|
David Cooper (MD)
Founded the company having worked in factories (one job was putting
the walnuts on Walnut Whips), a record shop and eventually for the
UK’s leading regional PR company Pomona for 7 years. Artists
worked on in that time included Fatboy Slim, Portishead, Paul Weller,
Erasure, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Will Lawrence (Press Manager)
Having helped run Manchester DIY label and club night Akoustik
Anarkhy (which he’s still involved with) Will joined In House
in 2004, starting out stuffing records in envelopes he soon got
the knack for this press malarkey - working on campaigns for the
likes of The Go! Team, Fuck Buttons, Tunng, Sharon Jones & The
Dap Kings, Avi Buffalo, The Phantom
Band and Field Music. A sucker for a good harmony, fuzzy geetars,
melodic bleeps and a decent brew.

Matthew Maxey (Online Press Officer/Radio Plugger)
In 1996 Matthew was ignored by Noel Gallagher at Loftus Road despite a)
being right in front of him and b) having copied his haircut. He was 12
years old, but this did not stop him wanting to work with musicians or
spend his days wooing journalists. Matthew has never been on the road
himself, although Prior to joining In House in 2009, he had a job that
saw him driving cross-country delivering contracts to the likes of
Lauren Harries, whereupon she told him about painting in the nude. Since
then, has worked on online press campaigns for Low, Field Music, The
Field, Fuck Buttons, The Phoenix Foundation, The Phantom Band, Tracey
Thorn and Panda Bear, as well as radio campaigns for Dark Dark Dark,
Panda Bear and Toro Y Moi. |

Leah Wilson, Press Officer
Having spent her early years travelling with a rally champion father, it
seemed only natural for Leah to split her time between different cities.
Alas, a lot less glamorous than Monaco or Montreal, she divides her time
between Manchester and London, and can mainly be found tucked in a
corner of the quiet coach. She spent her teenage years learning the
loves and losses of life with Dutch Uncles in the Manchester suburb of
Marple. She started working for their label, Memphis Industries, in
2010, where she worked closely with bands such as Field Music, The Go!
Team, The Phoenix Foundation. Much like watching a rally car veer off
the gravel path and into a dense thick of trees, she left Memphis in
winter 2011 in the transfer window to join the In House team. In her
spare time she likes to go to watch Manchester City, or spend saturday's
in London's best public houses.
