Collection: Minotaur Shock

Minotaur Shock is the solo project of Bristolian David Edwards. A man who quickly built a reputation following the release of two successful EPs, radio play ranging from 6music to BBC radio 1, as well as remixes for artists like Badly Drawn Boy, Mojave 3 and Super Furry Animals. He released his debut album Chiff Chaffs and Willow Warblers on Melodic back in 2001 and after the release of a compilation in 2003, which grouped his two early EPs along with other gems, Edwards signed with 4AD where he released Maritime (2005) and Amateur Dramatics (2008) before returning home to Melodic for his 2012 release Orchard.

After putting the music  together in the confines of his own home, Edwards hit a studio for the first time in his ten year career for Orchard, which is arguably his strongest release to date. Live drum tracking, piano, xylophone and bass guitar were added, giving the finished recordings a propulsive quality. Flutes and clarinets were played by long-time collaborator Emily Edwards (no relation) and recorded in a Devon summerhouse, while James Underwood’s violins were recorded remotely and emailed back and forth.

David Edwards also plays drums for Bronze Age Fox who are signed on Rex Records, home of legendary Australian samplers The Avalanches.
