Shaking Hand Announce Self-titled Debut Album To Be Released In January 2026

Shaking Hand have announced their self-titled debut album, set for release on 16th January 2026 through Melodic. Alongside the announcement, they’ve shared a video for the lead single “Mantras”, recorded with David Pye (Wild Beasts, Teenage Fanclub) at Nave Studios in Leeds.

The Manchester-based band draws on influences like Slint, Sonic Youth, Pavement, and Big Thief, combining experimental guitar work with strong melodic instincts. Their music features shifting tempos, layered guitar parts and riffs that can unravel into something fragile or ecstatic.

“Mantras” is a seven-minute track built around hypnotic time changes and overlapping melodies.

Guitarist and vocalist, George Hunter explores the tension between growth and self-acceptance. “I can often find myself looking too far forwards and feeling this need to grow to attain this version of myself. I often jot down things I want to do more / less off when I’m feeling like this and I ended up titling them ‘mantras’.
