Collection: L. Pierre
L. Pierre is the moniker of Scottish vocalist and musician Aidan Moffat. Inspired throughout his childhood and teenage years by music ranging from Elvis Presley to David Byrne, through Dinosaur Jr., Slint and the Pixies, Moffat teamed up with Malcolm Middleton to form Arab Strap, who released six albums between 1996 and 2005. Also collaborating several times with Mogwai, performing guest vocals on ‘R U Still in 2 It’ on their landmark album Mogwai Young Team, Moffat quickly forged a respectable name for himself.
After being challenged to release a solo record by fellow collaborator Middleton in 2002, Moffat responded by releasing Hypnogogia on Melodic Records under the pen name Lucky Pierre. Since, changing the name to L. Pierre, Moffat has continued to regularly produce releases under Melodic Records, with five albums to date.
It doesn’t stop there though, he continues to work and collaborate with a host of musicians, forming Aidan Moffat and the Best-Ofs, who released an album in 2009, supporting Moffat’s teen heroes, Slint, on their tour. He also released Everything’s Getting Older with Bill Wells in 2012, which received the Scottish Album of the Year award from the Scottish Music Industry Association.
