Collection: Shaking Hand
Somewhere in the fading sunlight peeking through the newest glacial high-rise in Manchester, you’ll find Shaking Hand, parked up in a dusty practice room sketching out sonic landscapes. Against the back-drop of an ever changing city where buildings are constantly torn down & built back again, the three piece craft away. Pulling from early post-rock, mid-western emo, 90s US alternative. Assembling something new, nostalgic but unheard.
Written within the industrial confines of Manchester’s now-defunct Brunswick Mill, Over The Coals rises like a modernist post-rock construction — melodic and intricate frameworks reaching toward the celestial, only to be abruptly dismantled and remodelled entirely. New melodies rise from the rubble, giving way to the constant mantra ‘Life’s not linear’. There is a sense of safety in this closure - wholly unfamiliar, unmistakably their own.
Shaking Hand are George Hunter, Freddie Hunter & Ellis Hodgkiss. Over The Coals is out now on Melodic.
